We’ve got storytelling, live theatre performances, our famous family disco, bubbles, arts and crafts and lots more! Get down to the funky beats at our Jungle Book disco and Ellie the Octagon Elephant makes a welcome return – there’s something for everyone.

Author Talk with TikTok and TV chef Jon Watts

Jon will share his remarkable journey from starting his culinary adventure at the age of 18, as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, while serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence in a young offenders institute, to becoming a professional chef.

Since his release, he has worked for Jamie Oliver and appeared on ITV’s This Morning live cooking stage.

Jon will make his Bolton Food and Drink Festival debut on Friday 23 August at 2pm at Central Library, where he will talk about his new cookbook ‘Speedy Weeknight Meals’, which includes delicious, quick and easy weeknight meals.

This event will also include a book sale and an opportunity for attendees to have their copies of “Speedy Weeknight Meals” signed by Jon himself.

All is well at Sylvie’s Scrumptious Sweet Shop. P.C. Lee can’t resist the fruitcake, Stanley the Horse loves peppermint creams, and The Talkative Twins only cause a crumb of chaos. That is until a stranger arrives and their irresistible ice cream threatens to spoil everything.

‘SCRUMPTIOUS!’ is a magical show about friendship and ice cream, with hilarious songs, dancing, storytelling and gentle audience participation – the perfect treat for families and anyone young at heart.

Brand new for this year’s festival, the Festival Garden has lots of nature-based activities for children of all ages. Youngsters can create delicious fruity snacks with Classroom Kitchens, grow their own pea plant or even try the veg patch game. There’s also the chance to meet the bees, build a bug hotel, make a ‘beebomb’ or join the competition to decorate a beehive.
